Americana Fiddler & Entertainer Emerald Butler Releases New Music
“Emerald Butler Sun Studio Sessions” with First Track “You've Got Nothing Over Me”, Out April 24
Chattanooga, TN - Accomplished Americana Fiddler and Singer-Songwriter, Emerald Butler, announces the release of her new EP “Emerald Butler Sun Studio Sessions” recorded at the legendary Sun Studios in Memphis, TN. "You've Got Nothing Over Me" from her forthcoming project will be available April 24 on all streaming services.
Emerald is commemorating the EP with the release of her new original song “You've Got Nothing Over Me”. It will be available on April 24 on all streaming services. About the song, Emerald explains: “I wrote 'You’ve Got Nothing Over Me' when I was a teenager dealing with rejection from my peers. It’s a pretty straightforward song about telling all the 'cool kids' that they aren’t cooler than me just because they are trendy or more popular.”
Recorded at the legendary Sun Studios in Memphis, TN, with musicians who had never performed together before - C.W. Hasty, Jade Watts, Joel Beaver, and Rodney Polk - the session finds Emerald recording like Sam Phillips did with his earliest artists. With the studio’s founder and legendary producer’s motto called “perfect imperfection”.
By recording at Sun Studios, Emerald went to the place that sparked her love of music. “Recording at Sun Studios has been a dream come true. I’m still trying to process the fact that it really happened. I instantly fell in love with Sun after watching the Johnny Cash biopic ‘Walk The Line’ at 12 years old. I began learning everything I could, not only about the music, but about the stories of the people who made it.”
'You've Got Nothing Over Me' is Rockabilly to the core. The single pulls inspiration from Sun Studio’s earliest recordings of Howlin' Wolf and B.B. King. Emerald has toured nationally with Sun Recording artist Jason D. Williams as his fiddle player, performing many Jerry Lee Lewis Sun Records classics.
“Emerald Butler Sun Studio Sessions” will continue with two more singles releasing over the next few months.
