Americana Fiddler & Entertainer Emerald Butler Releases New EP
“Emerald Butler Sun Studio Sessions” with First Track “Emerald Blues”, Out March 6
Chattanooga, TN - Accomplished Americana Fiddler and Singer-Songwriter, Emerald Butler, announces the release of her new EP “Emerald Butler Sun Studio Sessions” recorded at the legendary Sun Studios in Memphis, TN. "Emerald Blues" from her forthcoming EP will be available March 6, 2026 on all streaming services.
Emerald is commemorating the EP with the release of her new original song “Emerald Blues”. It will be available on March 6 on all streaming services. About the song, Emerald explains: “I wrote this song while rediscovering things that truly bring me joy, and tapping into a little bit of my wild side. I also addressed moments throughout my life where I sacrificed part of my personality and set aside things I loved to please people. For example, there have been times in my life when I feel like people only wanted me to play the fiddle and put the guitar away. Don’t get me wrong, I love fiddling around, but I love playing different things. There’s a lot of fiddling in the recording, so I think it balances out. It’s important to hold space for both. I think that’s part of growing as a musician and an individual.”
Recorded at the legendary Sun Studios in Memphis, TN, with musicians who had never performed together before - C.W. Hasty, Jade Watts, Joel Beaver, and Rodney Polk - the session finds Emerald recording like Sam Phillips did with his earliest artists. With the studio’s founder and legendary producer’s motto called “perfect imperfection”.
By recording at Sun Studios, the self-proclaimed “dark-haired, left-handed, middle child” went to the place that sparked her love of music. “Recording at Sun Studios has been a dream come true. I’m still trying to process the fact that it really happened. I instantly fell in love with Sun after watching the Johnny Cash biopic ‘Walk The Line’ at 12 years old. I began learning everything I could, not only about the music, but about the stories of the people who made it.”
“Emerald Blues” is fiddle infused classic blues. The single pulls inspiration from Sun Studio’s earliest recordings of Howlin' Wolf and B.B. King. Emerald has toured nationally with Sun Recording artist Jason D. Williams as his fiddle player, performing many Jerry Lee Lewis Sun Records classics.
“Emerald Butler Sun Studio Sessions” will continue with two more singles releasing over the next few months. Along with the new release, Emerald has been writing and producing a new history podcast titled “Site of Sound,” which features musical landmarks, including Sun Studios. More details will be announced soon.
